The proposal for the new Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) is progressing well since Henry Boot Developments - Aberdeen City Council's development partner for the project - unveiled the updated plans for a new exhibition centre at Bucksburn and the redevelopment of the current AECC site at Bridge of Don.The Rowett North area, Buckburn has been identified as a suitable place for the new Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. The new AECC has been designed to provide a range of adaptable spaces. The design comprises of a multi-purpose space, offering flexibility to host a large range of exhibitions, entertainment and sporting events, a multi-purpose dividable exhibition hall and a range of conference facilities.Integrated within the design of the AECC is a 200 guestroom 4 star hotel which connects to the AECC at ground floor level and first floor conference suite level.The 207 million centre will enhance Scotland's portfolio of business tourism venues, putting this global city on a world stage.Scottish Enterprise confirmed funding of £10 million towards construction which over the next 10 years is expected to contribute an additional 4.5 million visitors, £113 million of visitor spend and £63 million net Gross Value Added (GVA) to the Scottish Economy.
